A baby shower wishlist without duplicate gifts
Build a useful baby shower list with the right sizes, quantities and price ranges, without receiving the same gift three times.
A useful baby shower wishlist starts with what is already in the house, not with attractive product photographs. Remove borrowed and second-hand items, add quantities to things you need more than once and let guests reserve their choices. That is how you avoid three bath thermometers and no fitted sheet that actually fits.
Take inventory three times
Do not finish the list in one evening. Check these three sources first:
- What have you already bought yourselves?
- What will you borrow or receive from friends and family?
- What is still missing from the baby essentials?
An independent checklist is more useful for that last step than a retailer's basket of recommended products. A checklist should help you remember categories, not decide that every family needs every product.
Match size to season
Writing only “size 62 romper” does not always give enough information. Think about the season in which the baby is likely to wear that size. A thick winter sleeping bag in a size that fits around July may never leave the cupboard.
Add the details a guest genuinely needs:

Use quantities for repeat essentials

The list can include help as well as baby products
A freezer meal, delivery voucher, help with an older sibling or an afternoon folding laundry may be more valuable in the first weeks than another soft toy. Describe the offer clearly enough for somebody to turn it into a real gift.
Personal care products deserve extra care. If a brand, material or way of using something matters, say so. An item does not need to go on the list merely because it appears on a standard newborn checklist.
Keep room for every budget
A baby shower list containing only a pushchair, carrier and monitor creates pressure without meaning to. Add small useful wishes such as a book, burp cloths or a meal. A major product can appear as a group idea, but contributions should always be agreed in advance.
A store-independent wishlist can combine new products, small retailers and wishes written by hand. Guests can then reserve a gift without taking away the surprise.
